Sometimes I really feel like I neglect Italy.
I get out of this country as much as possible just to fill my passport with stamps from all over Europe, but as I leave Florence in three weeks, it was time for some quality adventures here.
Friday I went on a hat making tour in Signa with Kent State, which was so glam. We visited Grevi Hats Headquarters and spent all morning trying on beautiful handmade hats, then went to visit manufacturers that make metal and wooden hat forms. To top off the day we had a huge Tuscan lunch at the best restaurant in Signa, with a pasta starter, a huge entree of steak, chicken and spicy sausage, and tiramisu and espresso for dessert. I’ve never been so full in my life, but what a great field trip!
Saturday a few friends and I headed out to the Tuscan countryside for hiking and wine tasting in Greve. Mmmmm Chianti Classico is the way to my heart.
Christmas markets are starting to pop up all over Florence, and I literally screamed when I saw the famous German market getting set up in Santa Croce Saturday night. Lights are being hung between the buildings waiting to be lit, and all the designer stores changed their windows for the season this weekend. I can’t wait to go ice skating in the rink the city will set up this week and get my hands on some mulled wine and Christmas goodies at the markets!
