New York Men’s Day

Let’s hear it for the boys.

Working an unpaid internship is all about finding the perks that can act as compensation for your time. Mine are coming in the form of working fashion shows during NYFW.

First on the agenda was helping out at the inaugural New York Men’s Day, which was organized by the PR firm I’m interning for. Featuring six presentations in one space, the event, held at Industria Superstudio in Greenwich, was a whirlwind of menswear fashion, showing FW14 collections from designers Ernest Alexander, David Hart, Carlos Campos, Lucio Castro, Bespoken and Bosideng. Sponsored by Cadillac, the Dream Team (Shelbi and I) bopped around the event, handling checkin like bosses and running from show to show to see each collection.

I was never really invested in menswear prior to working for a company that represents so many menswear designers (minus shopping for my 18-year-old brother), but this experience has given me a new appreciation for great tailoring. My favorite collection of the night? David Hart’s hipster-chic garbs, but I’m also dying over the preppy-sophisticated designs by Ernest Alexander. It’s a toss-up. Scroll over the pictures above to see who is who!

Next up is Christian Siriano on Saturday!
